Our Mission

Cipher Report publishes practitioner-focused cybersecurity analysis for the people who actually defend systems — SOC analysts, security engineers, incident responders, and the leaders who set risk priorities. Most security coverage is either vendor marketing dressed as journalism or breach-of-the-week churn with no operational takeaway. We aim to sit in between: technical, vendor-neutral, and useful the Monday morning after you read it.

What We Cover

Threat Intelligence — Threat-actor behavior, malware and ransomware trends, vulnerability intelligence, and threat-hunting technique, framed around the MITRE ATT&CK model.

Data Security — Encryption, data loss prevention, data classification, and ransomware-resilient backup and recovery. Protecting data is our editorial core.

Cloud Security — Cloud and SaaS security posture, zero-trust architecture, and identity in cloud-native environments.

Application Security — Secure coding, software supply-chain risk, SAST and DAST, and SBOM practice.

Security Operations — SIEM and XDR, detection engineering, incident response, and security automation for real SOC teams.

Governance, Risk & Compliance — NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and the regulatory data-protection requirements security teams have to live with.

About the Editorial Team

This site does not name individual authors; we attribute work to the publication because it is intended as a durable editorial reference rather than a personal-byline platform. The editorial team writes from a practitioner perspective and cites primary sources — NIST, CISA, MITRE, OWASP, vendor advisories, and the CVE/NVD record — for load-bearing claims.

Our Editorial Approach

We are vendor-neutral. We do not accept payment for coverage and we do not run vendor-supplied editorial. When we cover a product category, we present multiple options and their trade-offs. We cover threats defensively — detection, mitigation, and impact — and do not publish exploit code or step-by-step attack instructions.
